Managing your Databases

If you are using multiple databases you can use the database management utility for moving, copying and deleting your databases (Registered Version only, to move databases in the unregistered version click here).

Select Database>Manage Databases to display the database management dialog.

You will first need to select the database to manage:

Click on the top right browse button and select the folder of the database you want to move or delete.  Note that you cannot move or delete the currently opened database, switch to a new database first.  If you are not sure of the location of a database, open it and then select Database>Database Info.

Moving a Database:

1. Click on 'Move the database', then browse to the folder where you want to move it to.  You cannot select a folder where a database already exists.
2. Click OK.

Copying a Database:

1. Click on 'Copy the database', then browse to the folder where you want to copy it to.  You cannot select a folder where a database already exists.
2. Click OK.

After you have copied a database it is recommended that you rename either the original or the copy with a new database name, so that it can easily be opened using the Re-open menu item.

Deleting a Database

1. Click on 'Delete the database'.  
2. Click OK.

If the database is using:

• False extensions for image files:  Deleting the database will leave all image files referenced by it with the altered extension, so you will not be able to view them.  Before deleting the database you should first open it and convert the storage method back to Normal, this will rename all files to their original extension.
• Database File Storage:  Deleting the database will also delete all files stored in the database!  If you want to keep these files but still delete the database, you should first open it and convert the storage method back to Normal, this will save all files to their original locations.
